TransAlp Val d'Aosta - day 5/5

Michele, you know, it's a vulcan of ideas, he like to bike around the world (Nepal, Tenerife) and to climb and ride the summits in the Alps, sometimes he (and his friends) crosses the frontier of alpinism (Cevedale3769 m, Piz Umbrail 3033 m, Rite 20183 m in winter).
In this summer he decided to perform a two weeks TransAlp between the borders of Italy and France; he and Dario planned a sequence of tremendous uphills and unbelievable downhills, the travel must be done hauling everything necessary to ride, to sleep and to eat.

Two similar weeks for me would be too hard, so I limited myself to the crossing of Val d'Aosta, from Champorcher to Valgrisenche.

Michele, si sa, è un vulcano di idee, gli piace girare il mondo (Nepal, Tenerife) e le cime alpine, sconfinando nel alpinismo (Cevedale3769 m, Piz Umbrail 3033 m, Rite 20183 m in inverno).

Per l'estate ha deciso di fare una Transalp di due settimane fra Italia e Francia, assieme a Dario ha pianificato una serie di salite mostruose e di discese roboanti, il tutto trasportando quanto necessario per pedalare, dormire e mangiare.

Due settimane simili per me sarebbero state troppo impegnative, pertanto mi sono limitato alla traversata della Val d'Aosta, da Champorcher alla Valgrisenche.

Last day of TransAlp for me and Giovanni.
The night spent at an elevation 2700 m (8860 ft) was cold, but we slept quite well, we were tired.
The morning was beautiful, the early morning light tinged rocks with orange shades. While me and Giovanni were waiting for breakfast (Dario and Michele were still sleeping), we walked to the lake and we filled our eyes of mountains, rocks, glaciers, water, flowers and everything else.
Ultimo giorno di TransAlp per me e Giovanni.
La notte trascorsa ad un'altitudine 2700 m era fredda, ma abbiamo dormito tutto sommato bene, eravamo stanchi.
La mattinata era bellissima, la luce del mattino ha tinto le rocce con sflumature arancioni. Mentre io e Giovanni aspettavamo la colazione (Dario e Michele stavano ancora dormendo), siamo andati al lago e abbiamo riempito i nostri occhi di montagne, rocce, ghiacciai, acqua, fiori e tutto il resto.

After breakfast we started to pedal and to walk to reach Col Bassac Deré, the last mountain pass of the TransAlp for me and Giovanni.
The day before was a beautiful day, but what a landscape this day... the glaciers were hanging, water was flowing, flowers were perfuming, stones were... rocking? Whatever they were doing, they were doing well.

Dopo la colazione abbiamo iniziato a pedalare e camminare per raggiungere il Col Bassac Deré, l'ultimo passo della Transalp per me e Giovanni.
Il giorno prima era una bella giornata, ma che paesaggio questo giorno ... i ghiacciai incombenti, l'acqua scorreva, fiori profumavano, ed i sassi ... rocciavano? Qualunque cosa stessero facendo, lo stavano facendo bene.

The last part of the ascent took place without a real path, it was an hard walk on loose stones, some steps on iced snow on a very steep slope. On the other side... the glacier was below our feet, we rested while we where watching the beauty of the Earth.

L'ultima parte della salita è avvenuta senza un vero e proprio percorso, è stata una cammianata impegnativa su pietre smosse, alcuni passi sulla neve ghiacciata su un pendio molto ripido. Dall'altro lato ... il ghiacciaio era sotto i nostri piedi, ci siamo riposati guardando la bellezza della Terra.

As usual in this TransAlp, the very first part of the descent were on a moraine, therefore it was a steep and technical track, the second part of the descent was more flow, but we often found technical parts.
Come di consueto in questa TransAlp, la prima parte della discesa è avvenuta su una morena, quindi era un sentiero ripido e tecnico, la seconda parte della discesa era più scorevole, ma capitava spesso di trovare tratti tecnici.

In a while we arrived to Bezzi mountain hut, we filled our bottles and we restarted to descend, initially the track it was flow, then it became harder and I had to use all my skills to drive the bike, or to walk...
The descend ends in Surier, in that place we met our friends Tazio, Alberto and Bimal, we ate something together, and we did a change, Michele and Dario continued the TransAlp, Tazio, Alberto and Bimal had replaced Giovanni and me. We come back to (in)civility, they started to pedal looking for a new mountain pass to cross. 

In breve siamo arrivati a rifugio Bezzi, abbiamo riempito le nostre bottiglie e abbiamo ricominciato a scendere, inizialmente il sentiero era scoreevole, quindi è diventato più difficile ed ho dovuto utilizzare tutte le mie capacità per guidare la bici, o per camminare ...
La discesa finisce in Surier, in quel luogo abbiamo incontrato i nostri amici Tazio, Alberto e Bimal, abbiamo mangiato qualcosa insieme, ed abbiamo fatto un cambiamento, Michele e Dario hanno continuato per la Transalp, Tazio, Alberto e Bimal hanno rimpiazzato Giovanni e me. Noi siamo tornati alla (in)civiltà, loro hanno ripreso a pedalare alla ricerca di un nuovo passo da attraversare.
