Determination on the face of Michele e Giovanni / grinta sui volti di Michele e Giovanni

Michele, you know, it's a vulcan of ideas, he like to bike around the world (Nepal, Tenerife) and to climb and ride the summits in the Alps, sometimes he (and his friends) crosses the frontier of alpinism (Cevedale3769 m, Piz Umbrail 3033 m, Rite 20183 m in winter).
In this summer he decided to perform a two weeks TransAlp between the borders of Italy and France; he and Dario planned a sequence of tremendous uphills and unbelievable downhills, the travel must be done hauling everything necessary to ride, to sleep and to eat.

Two similar weeks for me would be too hard, so I limited myself to the crossing of Val d'Aosta, from Champorcher to Valgrisenche.

Michele, si sa, è un vulcano di idee, gli piace girare il mondo (Nepal, Tenerife) e le cime alpine, sconfinando nel alpinismo (Cevedale3769 m, Piz Umbrail 3033 m, Rite 20183 m in inverno).

Per l'estate ha deciso di fare una Transalp di due settimane fra Italia e Francia, assieme a Dario ha pianificato una serie di salite mostruose e di discese roboanti, il tutto trasportando quanto necessario per pedalare, dormire e mangiare.

Due settimane simili per me sarebbero state troppo impegnative, pertanto mi sono limitato alla traversata della Val d'Aosta, da Champorcher alla Valgrisenche.

TransAlp VdA – day three - agosto 2015

Vanontey 1680 m - Col du Luson 3296 m - Valsavaranche 1612 (22 km, +1665 m, -1730 m)

After a rainy day... a foggy day. We had breakfast under the rain, so we rest a little bit more in the camping, only at 10 o'clock we start to move.
Rain is a problem to travel in the mountain, but there isn't a yin without a yang, waterfalls became nicer and colours were different.
Dopo un giorno di pioggia ... una giornata di nebbia. Abbiamo fatto colazione sotto la pioggia, così ci siamo riposati ancora un po' in campeggio, solo alle 10 abbiamo iniziato a muoverci.

La pioggia è un problema per viaggiare in montagna, ma non c'è uno yin senza uno yang, le cascate erano più belle ed i colori erano diversi.

We thought to had to carry the bikes to the alpine hut, instead it was possible to pedal on the major part of the path, recently it was arranged, a nice surprise.
Pensavamo di dover portare le bici fino al rifugio, invece è stato possibile pedalare sulla maggior parte del percorso, di recente è stato sitemato, una bella sorpresa.

We rested for some minutes in the Vittorio Sella mountain hut (website), a nice place to stop, in the future I would like to return and stop here a little more time. While we were sipping the the, the manager explained us some peculiarities about Valle d'Aosta Region.

Ci siamo riposati per alcuni minuti in rifugio Vittorio Sella (sito web), un bel posto per fermarsi, in futuro mi piacerebbe tornare e fermarmi qui un po' di più. Mentre stavamo sorseggiando il the, il gestore ci ha spiegato alcune peculiarità della Regione Valle d'Aosta.

On the uphill we met a heard of mountain goats, some males had very big horns.
Durante la salita abbiamo incrociato un branco di stambecchi, alcuni maschi avevano corna particolarmente grandi.

To reach the pass (Col du Luson) was necessary to carry the bikes, there is a first false steep mountain pass, then a traverse dangerous, some meters of fixed chain reduce the danger.
Per raggiungere il valico (Col du Luson) è stato necessario spallare le bici, c'è una primo ripido falso valico, quindi un traverso pericoloso, alcuni metri di catena fissa riducono la pericolosità.

We were proud to have reached the Col du Luson, despite the low temperature (1.8° C) an the more low visibility, but happiness happen at high altitude despite the conditions. We dressed ourself for the descend and... the sky started to rain, fortunately the dangerous parts were behind our wheels.

Siamo stati orgogliosi di aver raggiunto il Col du Luson, nonostante la bassa temperatura (1,8° C) ed una ancor più scarsa visibilità, ma in quota si è felici nonostante le condizioni. Ci siamo vestiti per la discesa e ... il cielo ha iniziato a piovere, per fortuna le parti pericolose erano dietro le nostre ruote.

For me the descent was VERY long, I was tired for the ascent, the cold and the lack of a landscape (see the pictures of the others days). Some parts of the descent are quick and enjoyable, but the last part was too hard for me and I had to walk a lot. At the end of the descent we bumped into a camping, so we stopped there to, in the order: eat, have a shower, eat again, chat a lot, sleep.
Note: I didn't found the camping so good as the camping of the day before, but the impression was conditioned by my tiredness.

Per me la discesa è stata MOLTO lunga, ero stanco per la salita, il freddo e la mancanza di un paesaggio (vedere le foto degli altri giorni). Alcune parti della discesa sono rapide e divertenti, ma l'ultima parte era troppo difficile per me e ho dovuto camminare molto. Alla fine della discesa ci siamo imbattuti in un campeggio, quindi ci siamo fermati lì per, nell'ordine: mangiare, fare una doccia, mangiare di nuovo, chiacchierare molto, dormire.
Nota: non ho trovato il campeggio così buono come il campeggio del giorno prima, ma l'impressione è stata condizionata da mia stanchezza.
