Andro sulla ferrata Ivano Dibona

A very hot day on ridges = a thirsty hike.
Una giornata particolarmente calda in cresta = camminata assetata.
Cristallo is one of the most important mountain of Cortina d'Ampezzo, the main summit requires climbing skills, the "middle" summit has an easier access because there is a via ferrata and there WAS a chair lift. For me, the satisfaction of the summit was halve because there were to much helps; this summer the chair lift was closed, therefore there was no queue (or the procession) along the steel cable of via ferrata Ivano Dibona: it was possible to climb it from bottom to the top without disturbing anyone. At the end of that via ferrata starts the Marino Bianchi one, it permits to reach the middle summit of Cristallo without big risks (it's a via ferrata over 3000 m a.s.l, it's not easy).
Il Cristallo è una delle cime principali delle montagne di Cortina d'Ampezzo, la cima principale richiede capacità alpinistiche, la cima "di mezzo" ha un accesso più facile perché c'è una via ferrata e c'ERA una seggiovia/ovovia. Per me, la soddisfazione della cima era dimezzata dai troppi aiuti; quest'estate la segigovia era chiusa, per cui non c'era coda (o la processione) lungo i cavi della ferrata Ivano Dibona: è finalmente stato possibile risalirla senza dare fastidio a nessuno. Al termine di tale via ferrata ne inizia un'altra: la Marino Bianchi, essa permette di arrivare sulla cima di mezzo del Cristallo senza correre grossi rischi (è comunque una ferrata ad oltre 3000 m di quota, non è nemmeno facile).

Cortina d'Ampezzo

The two vie ferrate follow tracks of the First War World on the ridge, therefore there weren't springs or snow; the irradiation was strong and we ate spiced and salted peanuts and chocolate, a parched mix: our tongues were glued to the palate. We could fill our bottles only in the afternoon, we melted a salt sachet inside and our bodies returned in a perfect shape. A couple of beers in Ospitale gave us the possibility to talk a little bit more.
Le due vie ferrate seguono tracce della Prima Guerra Mondiale sulla cresta, pertanto non vi erano sorgenti o neve; l'irraggiamento era potente ed avevamo mangiato arachidi salate e speziate e cioccolata: un mix riarso: le lingue erano letteralmente incollate al palato. Abbiamo potuto riempire le boracce solamente nel pomeriggio, abbiamo sciolto una bustina di sale e i nostri corpi sono tornati in perfetta forma. Un paio di birre ad Ospitale ci hanno dato la possibilità di parlare un po' di più.

 

Via Ferrata

From the ridge it is possible to see three glaciers, ice was exposed in all ones; not only the day was hot, but all the summer was hot.
Dalla cresta si possono vedere tre ghiacciai, il ghiaccio era esposto in tutti; non solo la giornata era calda. ma tutta l'estate è stata calda.
